Hi all.

Hopefully I can get an answer soon. I scored a set of new Motocraft plugs and Magnecor wires specifically for my '99 Eddie Bauer, 5.0 V8. I'm getting them put on this morning and I just got a call my my mechanic and he said that it appears that the Magnecor wires they're putting on seem to lack the "protection" from the heat that the stock wires had. I would have thought the wires were literally "plug and play". Do I need anything else to keep these wires from getting fried by the engine block?

Any immediate assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Brad

I don't think that anything is needed. I suggest you call Magnacor for the official answer.

Mine ( on an SOHC ) were definately plug and play.

Can always count on Al and Jonny for timely, useful responses. I appreciate it.

I called my mechanic and he mentioned that salvaging the OEM sleeves was not an option for whatever reason. I called Magnecor and they were very helpful. They mentioned that they have never had specific problems with this application and that they are designed to withstand the heat. My mechanic told me that the worst one is the "driver's side, rear" wire. Magnecor said that if a problem does materialize that they'd send me a longer wire, free of charge.

I guess I should cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Thanks again dudes!

Brad

The guy on the other end (I didn't catch his name, but his accent suggested southern hemisphere) was very cool. I appreciated the service for sure.
