Maintenence tracking and reminder software?

Does anyone use a software program that reminds and keeps track of car maintenece info?

Tracking old: I keep a folder of all my car reciepts and purchasing info

No CD... I just to it the old fashioned way.

I use my Excel to do it. It's not very hard. All you have to do is set up information on one row and put data below that section.

It's called the owner's manual.

Believe it or not, Ford has a maintenance guide that comes with the Explorer to help you keep track of all the work done to it.

Thats the way I use for my Explorer and my ATV's. Vary easy way to do it once you get used to it.

i made up a few chart type things in ms word that i carry with me.
one contains info on gas mpg so i can keep track prices, and calculate how much i spend on gas if needed.

another contains speical markers or tasks done...on this one i mark down the date and milage each time i roll another 1,000 miles on teh truck. also i keep track of maintence things such as spark plugs and whatnot, this allows me to cross reference my MPG chart to see if i experienced any increase in MPG, and if so why.

i was considering making up a simple program in visual basic that would put all my records together, because the pervious owner gave me a folder full of all the records for the truck down to every last oil change record. maybe one of these days i'll get some time and create a program to house all that good info for me.

my girlfriend explorergf says i'm a nerd, but i just think i'm taking easy steps to both ensure my maintence is done, and if/when i go to sell the truck the next person can say "holy crap you wrote down everything!"

it sounds like if someone were to make a decent program that was easy for the average guy to use, they could make a decent buck for doing the programing work. The key is a easy to use interface. You could even program it to integrate into a daily calander for pda's to remind you to do oil changes or the like. Sounds like a good idea to me

i could design an easy to use interface, thats one thing they've beaten into my head in class...however having access to what i have i would be unable to intergrate pda capablitlies. It can be done but i couldn't do it by myself.

the ford website automaticly does it if you have service done at the dealer although not as detailed as some might like

and how many people here are going to go to the dealer for oil changes or spark plug changes? its a nice feature..but just wouldn't help out most of the users here much

Use to do it in my head, but evidently my head aint keepin track like it use to. I also had a Franklin organizer for awhile that had the table, maybe I will copy that into Excel and go.

A while back I picked up a CD from Motor Trend that did pretty much just what you described. You put in yout basic data for each vehicle you have, and it reminds you of when things are due for checking. I din't remember if it keeps track of past maintenance, but I think it does (I don't have it loaded right now because I am in the process of bringing to life my new computer). It wasn't very expensive.

I use Personal Vehicle Manager for PocketPC, works great..
