My 91 Ranger XLT doesn't have a center console. Driving to work with hot coffee between my legs this morning didn't work to well. I'd like to build/fabricate/ or get one from another vehicle. I installed a "roof" and floor console on my F150. Got both from the bone yard. I've looked in bone yards and can't seem to find anything to fit. Not much room in the ranger since it has a "split" bench seat. All ideas are welcome. I'm thinking of going with fiberglass over Styrofoam and or wood.

Anybody do anything like this? I've searched this site and didn't come up with anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Willy

PS. Does anybody recognize my login "Ramblinwilly"? He was from New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland area.

so do you have the space in between the seats? if you have the bench i thought the back of the center portion folded down?
i have seen people make custom consoles with high density particle board (used in speaker boxes) or even just regular old pine board with carpet on it, they came out good. ill see if i can find the link, its just the ideas you could make one custom to your ranger just as easily.

You could swap in seats and console from an Explorer

Sincere thanks. You created a monster. I started mocking up what I think will fit from a bunch of small Styrofoam coolers. Thanks Blue91 for the links. I'll take before and after pictures when I finish.

If you decide to go back to a stock center console configuration, I can keep a look out for you here at our local bone yards. I've lately been a frequent weekend warrior hunter and they usually keep fairly equipped Ex's of our vintage ready for the pickens. :D

I'm pumped. Made a template from foam and copied it to some wood I had laying around. I used crinkle/textured spray paint and the finish looks good to excellent. It's OK but not what I'm looking for as to the shape. Looks a bit boxy. Back to the drawing board. Going to use some Bondo to give it a more rounded shape. Almost there...... By the way, wife knows what I'm doing and gave me a dirty look when I was eyeing one of her Tupper ware tubs!!

sounds sweet, make sure to take pics! and yea dont steal the tupperware that is just asking for trouble haha. maybe give fiberglass a try, that would be cool!
