Has anyone thought of welding the ifs into a straight axel? It looks easy enough. weld them together unbolt the middle axel mounts get a track bar off a jeep and fab it to work sounds crazy but fun!!!

not worth the risk of having it break on the trails....
just my opinion...

So this would be easier in your mind than doing a Solid Axle Swap.

Why make something that you break into something that is going to break even more?

you would be better off swapping a dana 30 or even better a dana 44 out of a jeep they are both alot stronger than a 35

A dana 30 isn't stronger than a ford dana 35 TTB.

how is the ford DANA 35 any different than a jeeps DANA 35 besides the fact ones a front axle and ones a rear

there are quite a few differences actually, aside from teh really obvious the front axle uses knuckles, U joints, spindles, and hubs
Also the Ford TTB is a reverse rotation ring and pinion

Simple - the poster said Dana 30 :)

ya i was the poster an a dana 30 doesnt blow out the ring an pinnion like the 35 does

I'm not an authority on axles or anything, but im pretty sure the R&P on the 35 is larger than the 30. Does the D35 TTB use the same u-joints as a D44?

Yes, 5-297X u-joints.

I would like to see these blown-up D35 ring & pinion gears, although I can show you tons of D30 ones with their teeth cleaned off.

Jeep dana 30 is stronger ring and pinion then a Ford dana 35 TTB? LOL

I think you are thinking of the old dana 28 TTB, the D35ttb is MUCH stronger

the dana 30 can be built to be as strong as a stock D44 with a bunch of $$$

the Dana 30 can also work well under the front of an Explorer/Ranger or BII as long as you dont plan to run over 33" tires and you are very nice to it... most guys I have seen who have gone dana 30 SAS have eventually ripped it out and gone dana 44 or 60 instead........

Jeep is a joke when it comes to axles, seriously a 200 HP straight six with a dana 35 rear axle? OR how about the 4 door grand Cherokee with a 318 and a dana 35 rear axle? those were fun!!! At least FORD never skimped when it came to axles... at least until the 8.8 IRS fiasco LOL

And the age old debate rages on

lets take this to Judge Judy!!
"listen to me, listen to me! I'm the boss applesauce!"

hahaha!

Yeah, next to their terrible rear driveshaft angle, Jeep's worst point is def their axles

I wouldnt think that the strength of an axle would be a debate :p They are known entities, with components that have certain specifications.

CORRECT and there are charts that show the strength of every axle, not much to debate there

but nobody can forget about drivers, every driver is different, what axle works for one driver may not work for another, some members on this forum run 37's on the Ford D35 and 8.8 without issue, some run 35's on the same axles and cant keep them together.......so the debate will always rage on, ESPECIALLY the Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge vs Jeep debate... pffft I already know the answer LOL I work on all of them!! LOL

I like Ford, but im a PITA so it makes sense!!
