I've always suspected my manifolds of being leaky, but tonight for the first time I hear a loud audible tick that goes away when I get off the gas, and seems to get louder and faster as I step on the gas. Is this my manifold finally cracking??

You should have cast manifolds-maybe there is a crack in the egr tube-

You want the headers huh?:D

Yeah, I'd like to get new headers, but I can't replace them without justification.

Or in some cases the wife's permission.
Maybe next spring

I just started experiancing the samething as SilverBullet this weekend.

I spent two days putting in a new radiator & water pump and then it started this. Somedays I want to push the thing off a cliff.

that thing is just falling apart on you:(

210k miles is taking a toll. The radiator was leaking right at the tank/core. I figured a new water pump was safe, cheap insurance.

I popped the hood today and had the engine running, trying to find the source. Still not sure where it's coming from, but on the passenger manifold I could see the gasket (at least the exposed part) is disintegrated and falling apart. Boy, those manifold bolts are ruuuuuusty!!

Anyone know, if I went to Ford to buy brand new manifolds, what they would cost?

Crazy isn't? $500 for just the right side exhaust manifold for a 96-99 when its a worse material/design than 00-01:confused:

Gives me good levearge for when the wife :frustrate about the cost of the Torque Monsters:D
