Manual Transmission Sport Trac Questions

Yea i feel like a manual 4x4 would just be so much fun in the winter! I live about an hr outside of Detroit.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread.. I haven't been back to this board in quite a while.. I have a 03 4x4 Trac with a manual Tranny with about 138k on it.. For the guy having trouble shifting and putting into first gear, I had the same issues and guess what? It was low on clutch fluid.. The resevoir is located right in front of the driver.. Check the fluid before attempting to change the slave cylinder or the clutch, it uses regular brake fluid.. Mine is at the point where the throwout bearing is making a grinding noise early in the morning. The noise is minor and goes away after a little while. Seems to do it a lot more at low speeds.. I will be replacing clutch, slave cylinder and throwout bearing soon, within 10k miles. I heard that when you do this you should replace transmission fluid with full synthetic here http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=144197 More info here http://www.justanswer.com/ford/1psw...ual-transmission-neutral-and-shifts-fine.html

Has anyone done a auto to manual conversion and if so any parts list ideas?
