I got an intake adapter and k+n cone filter of ebay last year to find out that I dont think it fits my truck, 1996 explorer 5.0. I think it would fit my g/f's 2000 5.0 Mountaineer with the square air box though. Could this be right?

I dont even know how to get the mass air meter out of the round air box. I do alot of mechanical work myself but cant figure this thing out.

I might even be using my old, metal intake of my 02 Mustang to make it better.

I dont want to pay $150+ for a MAC intake.
Thanks

I am opretty sure you can get the meter ourt of that box, might have to break the plastic though to get to it :) I know I have taken them out of the round air boxes before (after thr truck was wrecked and broke the plastic)

you can do it without braking the plastic, once the meter is un attached from the intake tube and the box split in too, the flat panel the back side of the filter mounts to pops out. just us a slotted screw driver work it around the perimeter. after that theres some bolts you remove.
