Ok. I got all the information I need for my mods. Now for tires. I have a 1999 Explorer 4x4 4dr with the standard stock 15" rims. I'm probably going for some BFG's and I would like to know how big I can go to get a higher & beefier look.

Any ideas???

Tim,

I have tried to have a test fit with 31's at a couple of places in Maryland but they wouldn't do it, all I wanted was one tire on the front for the test fit not all four, not an unreasonable request. I called a couple of shops today and one 4x4 shop stated that the 30's will fit with no rubbing but 31's will rub a little without any lift.

Sorry for the run but it just bothers me that the local businesses don't try and please there customers.

Hope it helps,
Alan

Tim,
Welcome to the board. :)Hope you like it as much as the rest of us do.
You can get 31x10.5 R15's stock with no problems. If you do the "Torsion Bar Twist and Warrior Shackles/OME springs/ add-a-leaf(one of these three), you could put 32's on, and if you do a 1" body lift with the above, you could then go to 33's.
There are gobs and gobs of postings on this subject. If you use the search feature and look up "tire size" or "biggest tires", it will be all there for your reading pleasure.
One more note. You must remember that depending on how big you go, other things will have to be changed also. Going to bigger tires changes the over all output gear ratio. If it is too low, then gears will have to be changed, or if it's not too bad then maybe changes in the power section will have to be made to make up for the loss in power. Just something to think about. do your homework before you do anything, because one change will affect lots of other things. :)

TT & Shackles with bigger tires??

Hey, I'm new to this site and am wondering if I get a 1.75" to 2" TT and a 1.5" shackle lift if I can fit some 265/75R16 (32") tires on a 2005 Sport Trac??
