Does anybody know what the maximum voltage is? I am helping a buddy wire a head unit and amp in, but the head unit has no antenna wire, so can I just wire the remote turn on to the switched 12 volt? I've heard of it being done, but is it good for the amp?

You can splice it into anything that turns on when the car does. Or wire it to the battery and a switch.

what this does is mean your amps will remain on even while the system is off, which can cause serious amplification problems, as fas as outside noises go. Like, if you shut your door, the vibration caused will be amplified and sent to the speakers. but when the radio is on, you wont have a problem. since your factory remote turn on is around 5V, look into a Peripheral Low Voltage Trigger, or Peripheral LVT. This will splice into a speakerwire, and sent power/ground. then when the radio is turned on, the minimal current down the speaker wire will trigger the LVT to output 12V to turn on your amps. I have my trucks remote on hooked up to the 'ignition' and I hate it. I cant turn my system off without getting serious disturbance through the sub... I have the LVT, just need to install it. I think you can get it from www.SoundDomain.com for like $15... hope this helped

why would you wire the amp remote into the antenna wire??? im confused on what you want to do... the amp remote wire is connected to the blue wire with the white stripe

the blue wire with the white stripe is the power antenna wire, thats why I would wire it to that cause it is always on when the radio is on.

i just took out a old wiring harness on a pioneer 7200 from ym contour there is a solid blue which is power antenna and a blue with white stripe that is remote which is clearly labeled... im aware that your harness may differ but ive installed many headunits and the blue with white strip has always been remote... it usually has a female on the end also

regardless im sure it will work ;]

with Pioneers the blue wire with the white stripe is both the antenna wire and the remote turn on. Most Pioneers don't have a seperate remote turn on, anyway, thanks for your help guys. Appreciate it.
