Ted, thanks for the info on where to buy the grilles. I also appreciate the pics. I am going to have to cut out the vertical bars on my Mountaineer as well. I will need to be careful with mine as the vertical bars are almost flush with the front of the grille, they are not set in like the Explorers. I am hope that I dont break or crack the grille as I cut out the vertical bars. Do you think that I can also use a dremel to cut them out? Please give me your opnion. I have seen the mesh material at Home Depot and it doesnt seem as nice as the material on the Sports Grille you bought. One last question, what was the year of the F150 Sports Grille that you bought, was it a 97-03 year or the new style 2004 F150. I have seen the 2004 F150 grilles (chrome) for $139 for upper and lower. Please let me know on the year. And again thanks for the pics and the info, it is much appreciated. I only hope that I can do as good a job as you did on your Explorer.

Christian, yes I would use the dremel to cut out the bars.

As for which grille to get, I would try to find out the dimensions of the '04 grille just to be sure. But I think it may work.

I have also seen..

Grill material at Wal-mart. I don't know if anyone else has seen this? But it was just a sheet that you could cut out for any car. It was for ricers, and I only saw a Biohazrd type design, but I'm sure they make other styles

Me and my friend are making a grille out of gutter guard, and painting it the same color as the truck(or try to get close lol) i was wondering how i can attach it without drilling, or cold welding it to the grille??? thanks

Ted, I will try to get the dimesnions for a 2004 F150 Sports Grille to see if it will work. With that suggestion of yours I am correct to assume that you used a Sports Grille of an F150 year model prior to the recent model change of 2004. It would have to be a model year between 1997 and 2003. You may have a good idea, as the grille area on the new 2004 looks much bigger than the previous model years. Maybe I would have too just buy the upper grille to do both of mine
