Hi, I have a new to me 98 xlt. I found a 98 Bauer in the junkyard in town that I can get alot of little things I want very cheap. It has a radio with broken buttons that I want foer an extra power supply for the no lights issue, I also was wondering if I can retrofit the message center into mine without much modification. I can take whatever wiring harnesses I need. Is it all plug and play into the main harness or was alot different. I was also thinking of tring to convert to the climate control from the manual system, is this possible.

Thanks for any help,

Rick

Searching would probably get you some good results. I am hosting a write-up on my server for this exact mod.

I did a search and found some info with a pdf attachment. I was not sure if that was the same year to the same year. I guesswhen I take it out of the car I will see what wiring and harnesses are there.

This has been done by several folks. The big issue is getting components from the same year as yours...or at least from the same VSS signal. There are other challenges that can come into play, but as long as you are comfortable with wiring and electrical circuits, this is a not too bad to do. Try going outside the forum and do some google searches too. I recall seeing something written up (maybe into a Ranger???) that was well done.

By the way, to utilize the low oil level, you will probably need to change the oil pan so you can install the sensor. If you ever think you'll do that, get the sensor from your donor vehicle. Those things are spendy.
