MFT 2.8 dare I say? ... Rocks!

Hi,
I have 2.8 and still have an annoying issue with my iPhone4 connected to the usb port. While music is playing from the iPhone, if I stop and turn off the ignition and then start the car again, the music plays but there is no audio. I have unplug the iPhone and plug it in again. This is a real pain if you are doing a lot of stop/start errands. Anyone else notice this problem?
I agree with gman123: updating the iPhone to the latest firmware level is important. Also, be sure to do a hard reset on the iPhone to see if that helps.

Everything is on the latest firmware...

All of us iPhone4/ MFT users know that the lack of "Text to Speech" functionality is due to Apple devices not supporting MAP protocol in the Bluetooth stack.

Its not a SYNC issue.

Has anyone challenged Apple tech support on this?

Is it something we can hope to see in a future upgrade or will we see it only in the iPhone5?

There is an all new iOS upgrade coming shortly.

As much as I would like to, I don't think Apple is going to implement that profile.

But I am sometimes thinking about putting an iPad on the dash. I know it's crazy...but... if you have an iPad try this.. it looks totally doable... so when you flip up the small latch in the center console (the one that hides all the input ports) imagine there is an iPad dock right there. The tablet could sit there pretty nicely. Sure, it would cover up most of the radio and heating controls but those are available through MFT anyway.

Your not that crazy because what you described is being done exactly for the Interceptor Utility (Ex)......several companies.....Gamber Johnson, Precision Mounting Technologies, Ledco, are all designing that 13inch flat screen mounting solution.

I had the dealer via their contractor Steve from Extreme Audio update from 2.4 to 2.8 and I see that it works better than before.
Much better response, the sirius works correctly.

I do find that the map program is out of date with roads that have existed in So. Florida for a year or two are not on the map. Wonder how much that will cost to update?

It has the latest firmware and I did a hard reset but the problem persists. When the vehicle starts, for a few seconds the iPhone plays but then it seems interrupted by another task and it never comes back. (Pause, start again; switch to Sat or Am/Fm and back none of these work. I have to unplug it and plug in again.

How does the system perform when you connect your iPhone via BlueTooth instead of USB? Do the issues you describe still occur?

When using USB, when you unplug and plug in the iPhone again, will the system will perform ?

Someone helped me out. It seems if your iPhone displays problems playing, and you unplug and then plug it in again, it works fine. At least mine does.

Haven't played songs via BlueTooth as usb charges and has more features with the iPhone music. When I unplug and plug the system works until I stop again, turn off the ignition and then the same things happen

Yes, I know that works. It is a pain to keep doing that if you are making a number of stops and turning the vehicle off

Which functions are available thru USB that aren't available via BT?

At least with my iPhone, you don't get detailed indexing of the songs. The quality is not as good I find. I like the usb because it charges the phone.

I’ll be forwarding that info and the details from your private message to the SYNC team and I’ll let you know what else I find out. Keep in mind that calling the SYNC team (800-392-3673 - Option 1 then 3) is a great way to troubleshoot issues.
