I have heard all the stuff about the LTX tires and how they are not recommended on the Explorer. However, every single person I have talked to that has them absolutely loves them and would never think about getting a different tire for their truck. I was really set on the LTX's but now I am a little leary due to this advisory. Is it an issue with just the newer models or all Explorers (I have a '93 XLT)? Will somebody put my mind at ease so I can go out and buy the damn things?!

I don't know if this will help. I changed my stock tires (Firestone) after 62K with Perelli Scorpion AT smaller but wider from the stock size. I had vibrations and vibrations after re-balancing. Anyway the tire shop changed it with Michelin LTX M/S back to original stock size. I had an experience to compare it with the Perilli tires. Comfort, Quite, Traction are the same, but I have a slight feeling that Michelin is still better than the Perilli. If I'm right it's much quiter. No more vibration most probably because it's back to the original size (not wider). Cornering is better too. Hope this help. Good luck.
