Michelins vs. BFG AT's -- Which gives a better ride?

Am I correct to assume BFG will be more "stiff" than my Michelins?

yes, you're probably safe to assume that a michelin will give a better road ride than a BFG. You have to decide whats important to you. BFG's have a 3 ply sidewall which makes them stronger (but also heavier). Then again, Michelin's are known to wear like iron and have great road manners... I'm certain if you do a search you will find more than enough information. If you want good grip and a great ride, I would personally recommend the Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO's... They are the highest ranked AT tire on the market (Tire Rack, 1010tires.com, epinions, etc) and they ride great on the road and see my pics for their capability off road...

I have had Michelins and BFG's. The Michelins never showed any sign of wear, never! The BFG's will wear faster and are much stiffer and louder, but I like the look and the traction off-road.

Michelins should be quieter and ride better because they have more of a road tread and less plys in the sidewall.

VBVA, not sure what you mean about them wearing faster. I have 32k on my BFG A/T's and they look good for another 20-30k easy. They seem to be wearing very well.

Just about any AT tire is going to do that.. I've gotten used to the 'clicking' as I'm driving down the street after a little wheeling..

I have some Michelin LT4's that were on mine when I bought it and I also have a hard time putting wear on them even when I slide it around a curve or chirp them off the line.


The ride quality is very good so far.. no noise either

I have Michelin's LTX tires and they are the quietest tires I've heard had. Traction is excellent and its roadmanners are one of the best. I've had it for about 35k miles on it and it showed probably about 60% of the treads left. As long as you keep your rig aligned and rotate the tires every 5000 miles, you're good.

Tip: Sam's and Costco are the cheapest places to get the tires rotated and balanced. I went to Sam's a couple of weeks ago and it only cost me $16 to rotate and balance all four tires. I believe Costco is doing the same also. So that's a whole lot better than paying $40 to just balance all four tires.

Did you buy em from Sams (maybe explaing the $4/tire for balance/rotate)?

If you ever four wheel than you need KO's if you are too scared than just stay with the Michelin even though Michelin might make some mean tires a t times.

No, if you buy tires from them, rotation and balance service is free for life of the tires. That's why I paid $16 for the service since I didn't buy them there.
