Mild lift

i did them the exact same without the centre brace, i got 1 5/8'' of lift, but i also have a heavy rear bumper which cause me to lose about a half inch of lift before the shackle install. so really it raised it just over 2''. hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply..

So I guess I should make mine a bit shorter then, or bring the holes closer together... Which leads me to another question: How big are the holes? Are they 9/16"? Or are they another size?

Cheers to a fellow Canadian! Thanks again!

Thanks once again.
Should be a piece of cake.
Wish me luck!

Nice Truck! Looks Awesome!

Sweeeeeet.

While it looks nice, the lack of a block in the center linking the two side plates of the shackles is inherently weak. No tonly do side loads place a bending load on both the upper and lower bolts, it can allow the side plates to bend (unless you use some extra-heavy stock). Even with a heavier material, the bolts are still subjected to bending forces as the axle articulates, and because they can skew (thanks to the bushings) it can make for some quirky handling with teh rear axle wiggling all over the place.

Just my .02.

X2 for sure.

But the truck as a whole looks Great!

Where are you guys getting your AAL's? Are they universal as well? I got the shackles from autozone, should i have a friend weld in the center section to beef them up? Will the center section be enough?

The shackles should be fine. I have them and about 900+ miles later, no problems at all. People abuse them good and they're (shackles) still fine. Doesn't hurt to do it though if you want. Some people I think just put a bolt in the first hole and that works as well.

Personally I'd use the block welded in the middle like the Warrior shackles. (In fact, I just installed the Warrior shackles Saturday, and I'm quite impressed with their construction). The back end of an Explorer sees quite a bit of side load when cornering or taking off-ramps. Throw in a couple of bumps, and I can see it twisting the ends of the bolts off pretty easily.

That looks good. I've got the V6 so i'm not to sure how big of tire I want to put on there. I have the 235's right now which i believe are about 29'' so the biggest I'll go is probably 30. MPG already sucks and the power isn't right up there with my chipped 01 F350 PSD. I'm not re gearing either, this is a budget rig while I'm in school. If I can make it perform a little better on some hunting trips for a few hundred bucks, I'm all in but this thing isn't getting modded like the PSD. The tranny fluid is already brown so I'm keeping that in the back of my mind too...
