So i got a 01 and pull a six foot wide enclosed trailer behind it. yes you can see along side it but not behind it like in a full size truck. I know i can get the clip on tow mirrors but do Not like the way they look. Has anyone put the mirrors off a f150 or 250 on their sport trac?

I pull a 6x12 enclosed trailer behind my Sport Trac & don't have major concerns about seeing behind it. All I've done is add little round stick-on mirrors to the lower outside corner of each stock mirror. Most of my towing is very local around town, but I have towed it 125 miles a few times. I can see behind it better than I thought I'd be able to. I drive a straight truck at work that I can't see directly behind, so maybe that affects my comfort in what I can and can't see behind the trailer.

Around home and around Mn it don't bother me much its down in Florida and Georgia going through Atlanta or Orlando its kinda a pain.

I've always had a 2" convex in the bottom corner of mine. The best upgrade that would look good is an update from the 2nd gen STs or 4th gen Explorers (and whatever year Ranger that matches) that have the square mirrors. They have a little bit more surface area. Someone on the Facebook page mounted the round style Super Duty mirrors, but they slant downward too much for my taste.

I agree I think our mirrors are pretty small. After driving my 2010 F350 with the new style Super Duty mirrors, it sucks to go back to the ST mirrors.

i just remembered i have a 02 f250 mirror on the shelf i am going to go see how it fits and i agree once one has driven the newer f series trucks how much better they are.

try the f-150 mirrors..... the stocks werent that great but you can the super duty mirror on the F150 base which SHOULD be much closer to ours

watch this.... not an explorer but look at the lines

Just relized the site he used is a sponsor

u was just coming back on hear to say yes one could make the 02 mirrors fit but require the remove of one of the studs and relocation of another plus some spacers and cutting. but i see some one posted a video. he definitively did a hack job of a install.
I think i am going to find a newer f 150 new generation explorer and try that first.

I would try the round body F150 (97-04 heritage) mirrors before the 04-08 150s. The mounting pad looks smaller and closer to the ST size.

thats definitely an expedition, but its the same mirrors I posted the F150 guy used. I know the 4th gen explorer mirrors fit on the 3rd gen, but I cant speak for the expedition. I'm very curious though because I almost daily have my truck loaded to the point seeing out the back is not an option. Having just the convex mirror on the bottom would be HUGE

having put 80,000 miles with a 02 f250 and 55,000 with a 08 f350 and 1,000 miles between a 11,13and 15 If one can get something closer to newest version to work good. it will be the best visibility. going to find some expedition mirrors to test fit Monday.

please update the heck out of this thread!!!!!1

I'm interested in seeing it work out!

I can't even use the old style from 7.3s and 6.0s after all the miles in my 6.4 lol

oh i fully agree, I get mad every time i get on are 05 f350 with a flat bed work truck affter being in the 6.4L then i get in my dads 6.7 liter and its like why they not come out with this type of mirror twenty years ago.......
