Matt, If I come to Moab I go through Farmington on the way to and from. I will be more than happy to show you the insane stuff at choke cherry canyon on the way back. It is basically a play ground and there are no set trails, just obstacles. That goes for others as well. I am still not 100% sure if Im going at this point because of a trip to Seattle a week or two before. I hope to be there though.

Still Not if I will be doing that or not. My dad might be coming with me so if he does I have to make a straitshot back to san diego so he can get back to work. If he goes he will be takeing 6 days of work off in less then 2 weeks  He is jr teacher so I feel sorry for what ever sub gets his spot :D I will let you know for sure when my plans get finalized. Iwant to hit as many spots and trails as possible.

Are there going to be any night runs like after dinner. If there are i will go get my rock lights now and start mounting and wiring them up.

Matt

potato salid hill. sounds like a trip rangerX had on that hill. I think I may have to give it a try :D :D :D

Matt

That's not where rangerx rolled... he rolled on the smoother hill around the corner.

ATTENTION!

Notice To All Moab Cheapskates, LOL :)

The following registrants have still not submitted their (fully-refundable) deposit to Rick:

TwoToneFordExpl
RockRanger
Mudd*****
offroadkc
mmpc
Brett
Jamie
Joe Dietz
Gofast
mattadams
climbnkd2 - John Young
Retard - Kjell Pinter
Trckmagik

We removed your names from the "Moab Itinerary" thread listing but will re-add them once Rick gets the $20 (fully-refundable!, remember) deposit from you. The deposit system worked great at the AZ run with 100% confirmed participation from those who took the trouble to comply, making it much easier on Rick and the planning for the run. Half of you slackers on this list are moderators for Pete's sake, LOL. :p Get off your fatt duffs and write a simple twenty buck check if you are serious. Last year less than fifty percent of those who signed up for Moab didn't show and it really screwed a lot of plans up once the weekend event started.

Rick and I are planning dinner reservations for Saturday night RIGHT NOW and will make them according to the number that we can plan on being there for sure. I would also like to get a better idea of the true amount and capabilities of the vehicles that will be there for sure since the actual trailruns are still in the planning stage.

Thank you for your enthusiastic cooperation and faithful response to this post :D

Rick - I sent you the money awhile back, with the money for the AZ run...

 okay. Geez.. :shoot:

Rick,

Do you think with my new 31" tires and the Versatrak AWD on my Aztek, that I can make it up Potato Salad Hill???

Absolutely! The Aztec can go ANYWHERE!!

I just hope I don't roll my hot Yellow Aztek, cuz then where would I sleep at night?

Another bad accident at Lions Back...

Moab's spring break turned dangerous for three people in town for the Jeep Safari. They were
heading up a steep hill to an area called "Lion's Back" as several other vehicles were trying to come down. Their vehicle slipped off the side, fell 45 feet and then hit a sheer cliff face. It
then fell about 15 feet more, and became lodged in a crevice.. One patient was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. The other two were taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Another report...

Three people escaped serious injury Saturday after their SUV fell off
the side of a cliff near Moab.
The accident came on the busiest weekend in the area's history for
off-road enthusiasts, Grand County Sheriff Jim Nyland said.
"This was the only real injury accident that we had, thank goodness,
with all the thousands of people here," Nyland said.
The accident left the SUV's driver, Jamie Endow, 22, Ogden, with
injuries to his right hand, knee and foot. Endow was treated and
released Saturday night from Allen Memorial Hospital in Moab.
His two passengers, Elizabeth Grogan, 19, Tempe, Ariz., and Hailey
Cutlip, 19, Ogden, suffered more serious injuries and were taken
Saturday night by medical helicopter in stable condition from Allen
Memorial to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. Grogan was
released Sunday and Cutlip was discharged Monday, a hospital
spokeswoman said.
Endow was driving the SUV down the Lion's Back trail, located
about four miles east of Moab in the Sand Flats area, a popular off-road
vehicle area.
Endow moved to the side to let another vehicle coming up the trail
pass.
"The sandstone gave away, and then the vehicle tipped over on its
side, slid down the slick rock and then went off about a 45-foot cliff,"
Nyland said.
The SUV then plunged nose-first into a sandstone crevice.
No one was ejected, but all three had to be removed from the area by
helicopter.
Driving on the slick rock is not illegal, and authorities were awaiting
blood tests from the driver to determine if alcohol was involved, Nyland
said.
The car remained in the crevice where it landed Monday and was
expected to be removed in the next few days.

Wow, sorry to hear about that.
That almost sounds worse than that film footage I've seen of a Blazer whose brakes went out on the way down of Lion's Back. I hope those people are ok.
Is it normal to pass on Lion's Back?

While trying to find info about the accident I found a site with lots of nice pictures (just don't pay attetion to the Jeeps in the photos):

Jared, gotcha covered now. Rick found your deposit. I think he must of accidentally lined his cat box with it or something, LOL.
