So I've been using Mobil 1 - Extended Performance for about 10,000km now and my dash cluster is telling me it's time for an oil change. I used to change my oil every 5,000km, but I'm done with that now - I usually just wait until the dashboard tells me to change it (every 10,000km or so).

Now, the Mobil 1 EP oil costs significantly more, and I do not plan on changing my oil every 25,000km (which is what it is advertised at).

Can I just switch back to the standard Mobil 1 5w20 Synthetic?

Yes or you could just reset the light and keep track of your own milage

I've decided to continue using the higher grade Mobil 1 and change the oil every 10,000km. For what it costs, the savings are minimal in comparison to how often the change has to be done along with the wear on the engine that is being helped.

I sell AMSOIL, our top oil is good for 1 year ,25000 miles which ever comes first.

Some customers end up resetting the oil light up to 3 times.
The car has no idea what quality oil you are using. Just get an oil change sticker from the parts store. Most give them out for free

Same, I run 0w20 ASM from Amsoil and with lab testing I'm clean up to about 15,000miles give or take what I'm doing. (towing/winter/bush)

If you want to run the oil longer you should use a better-than-stock filter. Mobil 1, K&N, or Purolator's new synthetic filter. I went that route for a while but I wasn't really saving much since I was buying a $14 filter instead of a $4 Motorcraft and over 10,000 miles I'd have to add two quarts at $8 each.

Good point. I use FRAM's Ultra Synthetic Oil Filter in combination with the Mobil 1 Extended Performance Oil.

Suppose here & now would be the time to mention now thru May 31, Mobile 1 is offering a pretty good rebate deal. Buy 5 quarts of Mobile 1 Synthetic and receive $12 back in a mail-on rebate. Lesser rebate amounts are available for other grades/specs of Mobile oil.

Canadian Tire has Mobil 1 Extended Performance on sale right now for $35 for a 4,4L jug.

I just got a deal here in the US at AutoZone for a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter for $29.99. Normally I use Pennzoil Platinum but that was too good a deal to pass up.
