Monmix? Need Help on Body Work

Ok as you can see by the pic, the damage is minor. I backed out of my garage without the door fully open and the door hit the top of my Ex. The metal trim around the back window was ripped up and bent. How can I fix it??? I hate that I did it and can't stand seeing my ex in this condition. Please let me know what I need to do to fix it or if it needs to be taken to a professional. Thanks so much.

if it is just the metal trim-

you can drill out the rivets with a 1/8" bit and rivet new trim into place

you will likely find quite a bit of rust under that trim as well and may want to do a little chemotherapy while your in there (possibly even need some professional help). it's too bad that ford designed that trim to catch so much water/promote rust

The Rust be a more northern problem. Even with all the rain here I have yet to find a tail gate with rust in that area after removing the trim.

Down in South Texas even the Rocker panels dont have a spec of rust on them.
 






Yeah I am not sure how I missed this thread.

Sorry. Yeah that trim is not repairable. Yank it and replace it.
Expo got it right. 1/8th inch drill bit and I believe an 11mm nut on either end. If that is the extent of the damage based on your stury you are very, very fortunate. I cant tell you how many times I have replaced compleate tail gates, and done some significant roof repair based on the same synerio.

I've fixed that kind of stuff before. Unfortunately...You have to have the correct hammers and dollys. (for soft metal) Stuff that most body shops do not have because most body shops would have no reason. I would just R&R it. It would cost more to repair than replace it. Monmix is right. The only reason for Me ever fixing that kind of stuff was because It would have came off a car that you couldn't just buy another. I.E. Hand build high end cars.
