good place to get it? Check For Sale or Trade forum around here or simply post there that you are looking for a set-up. Check your local bone yard as well. These are not that difficult to find and BTW.... all years would fit your truck... as long as these are leaf packs...... not monos...

and AAL? you can find that at almost any 4wheeldrive store out there.

So if I called a wrecking yard and asked for the leaf springs off of an explorer (any year) they would fit. And any springs except the mono. Thanks again for the help, as I mentioned I really dont know anything about this, and I appriciate the help.: cool:

They might ask you about the year of your truck. Don't worry. Any year will work. Good luck,

^^^confirming^^^

I just put the leafs out of a '91 onto my '99 Sport this week. We pressed in new Prothane urethane bushings (#PTP-6-1018 from Summit Racing $32.39 + handling). The bushings went in fine except the small eyelet side bushings were too deep for the springs, but we were able to make them work just fine with a tad of creativity. (Slightly spread the shackle and then compressed it back down when we bolted the leafs to the shackle)

Mono Leaf Swap D'OH

Ok so it took me a couple of months looking at the sag in the rear to convince me to change my leaf springs. So I bought a set of four door leaf packs off of a 2000 Explorer. Im not to good at stuff like this so I brought my car in to the shop this morning. 1 1/2 hours later I get a call from the shop. They told me the new leafs are 2" inches to short. The shackels on the new leafs cant be used, but i cant remember the reason why? Something about the new ones are under the frame mounted and the ones on there now are mounted to the frame? The center bolt is 1 1/4 inches back from the ones i have on there now, which would bring the rear axle back and that would cause rubbing when ever i hit a big bump. And undo torche on the axle?

Needless to say this is a bit frustrating becuase I payed $100.00 for the leafs, and $100.00 for shipping and cant really send them back becuase they sent me the leafs I asked for and shipping would be to much any way. And to top it off my Explorer looks just like it did $200.00 ago.

If anyone has any hints or tips on how I can get these leafs to fit on my Explorer, it would be Greatly Appreciated.

Why wouldn't that fit?

2000 had no changes in the rear.... it was all the same untill 2002 model year. 4 and 2 door.
Unless there is something I don't know....

I just bought new shackles for my 1994 - part number is actually the same for 1991 and 2000 Explorer with regular suspension...

mono leafs re arching

I have a quick question, can I achieve the same lift by adding an extra leaf in my mono leaf pack and having them re-arched, as I could by shackles, my suspension guy said he can ad a leaf to my '99 sport rear springs without me having to get 4 door leafs. I just want to know if I can still get 2 inchs of lift without buying shackles. Any insight would be greatly appriecated.
Thanks

If they know what they're doing then the answer is yes....
You can do whatever with the mono... add leafs, re-arch it... that would give you lift.... but then your ride quality will change as well. Shackles would give you a lift but ride quality stays nearly the same...

I'm not too worried about ride quality, just because it's a fairly soft ride now, also by adding an extra leaf will this stiffin up the back of my truck so that when I hook up my boat the back end won't squat right down?

Hi its the gaotherder agian. Unfortunetly I havent received many hints or tips on how to get the leafs from the 2000 x to fit on my 97 sport. I really would appreciate any help you guys can give me. Maybe there is someone out there who has done the swap that can give me some advice on how to make this work.

Thanks agian in advance for any help at all.

Guess what! They sent me the wrong leafs.

I called the parts place back and had them double check the part number and it turns out they sent me some Ranger leafs.

I should get the Explorer leafs in a few day and we will try this agian.

Thanks to everyone who wrote in to help!

see!?! told you that there was no difference between them leafs... I have installed a leafpack from a 1994 4door into my 1998 Sport with no problems (replacing mono) and now I just installed a complete rear end out of a 1997 4door into my 1994 Sport.... once again... no problems.

4door leafpacks on a Sport will give you a tiny bit of lift and stiffer ride (Sport leaf pack has 3 leafs, 4door has 4). If you don't want back to sag while towing install add-a-leaf... front will need adjustment as well at the same time to keep truck level...

any more questions?

I just put the

new four leaf pack off of a 2000. I love it! It raised the backend up 1". Now its level. Time for some shackles and a TT.

Anyone know what the leaf spring codes are for the explorer? I have seen 4 H,F,W,L what do they mean? I have seen them when looking at used parts online.

Are there 4 different springs?

Sagging

Anyone out here ever had driver's side sagging? And what's the easest way to get rid of it? It looks like it's 2 inches lower than the pas side. Also, I'd like to take advantage of the work I'll have to do and lift it a bit, Anyway to do it simply (like coil spacers or 4 leaf springs) ? And what are the pros and cons of coil spacers? Thanks a lot!

can you AAL to a 2001 sport that already has multi-leaf? just wondering??

You can do coil spacers up front. Use F-150 2WD factory coil spacers you can buy at the dealership. AAL in the back should do the trick. If it's not enough then you can also add longer shackles. Do a search and you'll come-up with plenty of ideas on those things.

Yes, you can AAL 2001 Sport... just crank front torsion bars a bit to even things out.
