sorry but i'm a newb to explorers but know a lot about rangers, anyway....

Is it safe to put an add-a-leaf on my 99 2-door's monoleaf to get some lift or am i better off looking for some 4-door leafs?

Add-a-leafs can only be added to 4 leafs. Replace your mono with a 4-leaf. That's what I did as did many other owners of Sports.

i really doubt you can install an add a leaf to a mono leaf spring...
the add a leaf goes between existing springs in the pack..
People talk on here about putting a 4 dr leaf pack where the ono leaf was installed at...

i guess that is what i will be doing then, thanks guys...

you CAN do an AAL on a mono leaf... I wouldnt recomend it though.

When you add a leaf to a pack you gain lift by arching the springs more than they were before. since a monoleaf is thicker and stiffer by design the AAL will not be able to arch the Mono Leaf. since the mono leaf wont arch properly it will tend to bend in odd angles at the end of the AAL and result in broken or bent springs. Hence why a 4 door pack is necessary or a AAL.
