I replaced both toe links on my 03 XLT about a month ago and have noticed an annoying "crunching" noise coming from the rear now whenever the suspension is flexed. I carried about 1,000 of Quikrete in the back recently and ever since then this started. I looked under today but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Anyone have any ideas on what to look for or try to get rid of the crunch? It sounds like when the bushings were dry and worn on my 94 Ranger front end.

Busted coil spring.

Coil spring was my first thought too

I'll have to check that out as those rear struts are also new (about a year old). I was thinking the outside toe links that are inside the rims. I know I didn't grease the fittings so I'm kind of hoping that might be it.

The rear struts are Monroe's so if the coil spring is broken I'm hoping they're still under warranty.

Why didn't you grease them? that is a must.

I replaced the toe links on my 02 limited a couple years ago and recall that I had to remove the grease fittings and install a screw due to the fitting hitting the inside of the wheel. They were Dorman replacements

Checked both rear struts/coils today and both are intact. I greased up the outer toe links and am hoping that's all there is to this.
