As strange as this may sound, A friend of mine who works for Ford Motor Dealership in Las Vegas turned me on to this.

For all you X- owners who have been experiencing rough idle / hesitation / lack of power etcetera...

The cure all is a solution of White Vinegar and Peanut OIL. You mix two equal parts - to make approximately 1 quart. Add this to your gas tank and drive as you normally would.

Within 100 miles you will notice many exciting changes in the way your vehicle operates.

yeah....that sounds good.

I bet you WOULD notice some exciting changes, but I don't think they would be good.

Tim

Only after I hear at least 5 good ginuea pig results. Voo-Doo magic sounding to me.

you can make caramel candy if you add sugar to your gas tank.

I have also heard if you throw in RED jolly rangers into your gas tank you will stop hesitation. and if you add the GREEN ones it will add 5 more horse power but will require you to use 93 octane.

steven, let me know how that turns out for you :D

Steveissteven - how about you do it first than let us know what happened :D.

hehehe

Yes I know it sounds crazy - but I have tried it!!!

It did run poorly for the first 50 or so miles, but after that it ran great. To tell u the truth, it has never ran better.

As per the Jolly Rancher technique - I personally would steer clear of that one.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

there are far safer ways to clean your dirty fuel system and to dislodge gunk and carbon build up, if you try the peanut oil gag you will try anything. You think that in tank fuel pump was designed to suck up peanut oil? You think any of it actually made it through the filter? Better change your filter dude.

Hey I got a bridge for sale, interested?

well my mechanic told me that ATF, one quart per tank will actually clean your fuel system. I used to put a quart in per tank of gas in my old F150 never had a problem. i also ran around 10 gallons of 3 year old gas through that F150 with no problems, so i seriously doubt that peanut oil would harm your fuel pump at all especially just a quart added to 19 gallons or so of gas. who knows it might work?!?

I don't think it's appropriate to laugh at someone for sharing a tip. He was just trying to help everybody out I'm sure.

Maybe this actually works?

MIGHTis the key word. Why do this when there are products that are made to do the same thing that have been tested to be safe?

Thats my point.

I'm not dumping anything but 91 octane down my filler neck, and an ocassional bottle of Red line, or BG fuel system cleaner, and I have never had any problems either.

I have heard the ATF one before too, never tried it though......never will.

Sorry dude, I;m not laughing at him, Im just laughing because I thought it was funny. I actually cant wait to see if more people try it, sure it might work, I will laugh again when and if it does. I just laugh because I love this stuff!!!!!

Sorry steveissteven No disrespect meant. If I tried this and it worked I would want to tell the world too! But you cant believe everything you read thats all. I have heard crazier stuff that works, especially from my trusted mechanic friends, but I'm not gonna go out and try them all.............Guaranteed by who? what happens if it blows up my engine?

Same here ... i didnt mean any disrespect with my Jolly Rancher joke. I just thought i would try to make someone laugh. If it works then thats cool. If i had an engine that was going to get replaced anyway and i needed a last resort fix before i purchased a new one i would try it. But i cant see myself putting this mixture into my 99's gas tank.

Okay - point taken....

Obviously if people aren't comfortable in trying this - no harm. It was simply meant as a tip... If it helps only one person, then atleast it has helped someone out.

I too have a sense of humor, and when I first heard about it, I thought my friend was joking. But when he showed me how safe it was by pouring the mix down his own gas tank, I was convinced!

Hey, if it help out cool.... If not - no worries!

All I know is my truck has never ran better, and if I could bottle and sell the solution.... I would

Bonus Tip # 2

Bon-Ami is a great windshield cleaner if you have a lot of bugs and or dirt or tar

It has never scratched and it never will

Try it - u will be AMAZED!

Keep the tips coming, I like the Bon Ami one....

Oh and maybe submit this to the dude's at Fourwheeler, you know for the cheap tricks section, maybe they'll print it as most of them have already been done.......

what exactly is Bon Ami? I have never heard of it

Bon Ami

This is great on the windsheild/glass. Follow that up with rain-X and you are good to go. On the ATF...some 'old timers' would pour it into their diesels fuel tanks. I heard it would INDEED clean the injectors, but not the newer PSD engines - the pre-turbo ones could benefit from the ATF in the tank. Never heard of it for gas engines?!?!?!

well in my 89 F150 with a 300 cu in inline 6 cyl. i used to pour in a quart of ATF per tank full (2 quarts for my two tanks) and never had a problem. have yet to do it in the X though, heard about this sea foam or power foam and was gonna try that to see if my pinging is caused by carbon build up, also next week gonna have my injectors cleaned.
