I have only posted a few times. I have a 02 explorer sport 2wd with a 5spd manual transmission and duirng hunting season this past year found a few times that I could really use some extra traction without switching to 4wd. Was wondering about swapping a posi unit from a junkyard donor explorer or a locker of some kind. Any help from some of you with a lot more explorer experience would be great. Sport is a daily driver and dont plan on making a mud truck just something to prevent the sliding on the muddy trails quite so much. Thanks in advance for any input.

limited slip only has marginal gains from an open differential when off-roading.

It sounds like you want a selectable locker.
ARB are always praised.

there are some lockers that do ok on the street, but may still cause some chatter.
