my ex is an everyday driver so i need tires that can hold up for the roads and highways. i would like to get the most agressive tread i can. i know superswamper boggers are out of the question, but i did see a wrangler tonight with them on the city streets. they were making aweful sounds! does anyone have a rough estimate on how many miles can you get from these tires on road? how bout baja claws, or mud terrains? what about the other interco tires, i think its TSL, the ones that the sidewall doesnt touch the road only off-road? the other baja tires?

prob all-terrains for street. one question for ya about your push bars, do you have the one that comes to the top of the bumper only? i have mine as tight as i an to the mounting brackets and it will still move up down, does yours also?

no i have the full thing that wraps around the headlights. i drilled it on and tightened it pretty well and its nice and firm, but prob welding it will make it perfectly give free.

i dont like the AT's. they are not agressive looking enough. i dont mind a slightly shorter lifespan. im just looking for estimate miles

i know the boggers dont hold up to the road at all, but does anyone know about how street-friendly the Baja Claws are?

Goodyear MTRs or BFG M/Ts are both extremely street friendly treads. Quiet, long lasting and excellent traction on and off-road.

The ProComp X-Terrains are also a good all-around tire. The tread is more agressive than an AT, but not quite as much as an MT. And they have good siping already so they're good on wet pavement. People comment to me all the time that they're one of the most aggressive looking tires they've ever seen.

I've ran TSL Radials, Boggers, SSRs, and Baja Claw Radials. The best all around was the TSL Radial. Kinda noisy on the streets but kicked butt off road. I got about 12,000 miles of my boggers. Surprised me but they hold up good for a strictly mud tire. The Baja Claws are good too. I've had my set for almost a year now with almost 20K on them. They've probably got 60% left on them. The SSRs didn't perform good enough for me off road. They are a radial so they'll last a while.

i would use an MT tire... i run uniroyal Mts i like the tread better than the BFG mt looks more aggressive.

i saw a jeep with 30" Goodyear Wrangler M/Ts. they looked really really good.

I have the BFG M/T and they look really tough IMHO. I used to have BFG All-Terrains, and the M/T ride noticeably rougher. At speeds above 30, it rides pretty well. Below 30 its a little rough. Below 15, I can feel the knobbys on the tires. Both kick a$$ offroad.

pekingman, you have 33x12.50. what size rims do you have? 15x8 or 15x10?

I'd recommend a 15x8 rim for anything 12.50 or less. 15x10 and you run into metal rubbing issues (ouch!)

Ok, here is my question. I have both 33 and 35 Xterrains at 12.5.

I have one set of Rock Crawlers 15x10 that the 33s are on. These are heavy tires and rims. I want to go with aluminum rims for the 35s to lighten things up. What size should i get 15x8 or 15x10??? What are pros and cons. I heard the 15x8s are better for 12.5 tires. I like my tires to be close to flush with my flares like they are with the 15x10, will that change with a 15x8. Please help with suggestions.

can you get 15x10's with a near stock backspacing? then you wouldnt have problems with metal/rim rubbing, right?

I run 15x8 rims. I even had some rubbing issues with this size. Nothing a die grinder couldn't solve though. :D I also would not recommend going anything more than 15x8 for a 12.5" tire. One of the problems with wider rims is that when you air your tires down for wheeling, you run a greater risk of having the tire come off the bead. In terms of just having on the street, it will probably be OK. I would go with 15x8.

when you look at the tire ads in magazines, all the tire/rim packages for 12.50's always comes with 15x10's. I think even 11.50's too. its when you get a 9.50-10.50 that they pair it with 15x8's.

im lookin at mickey thompson classic IIs for $93ea
15x8 17lbs light weight but the BS is 3.31. I wonder if thats too much. Not wide as 15x10s but.... gonna stick out a lil. Dead Link Removed

swamper TRXUS 34x12.50 look pretty aggressive or the SSR 33.4 ..... would prolly fit. Measured the wheel wells and they are about 34...

what are the interco thornbirds? is that their version of a mud-terrain or is it more hardcore?
