Most likely Impossible with an Explorer

Well, it is on its third water pump and second spark plug distributor. I was only speaking for the engine itself.

Of course the transmission has been rebuilt, as well as the steering gear box. Now that I think about it just about everything has been replaced or fixed, except for the engine and differential.

It is on its 3rd pair of driver's door hinges though.

ah that wonderful unibody!
with an Explorer you would only be on your second set of hinges! LOL

the sports have HUGE doors, the hinges sag after 150K, the 4 doors are better... my BII has 300K miles and EVERYTHING has been rebuilt EXCEPT for the body :)

I hate it how I just can't simply bolt on a new pair of hinges like I could on my explorer. My ZJ's driver's door hinges have been hacked, modified, welded and butchered at at so many times now, next time the bushing fail (soon rather than later) the door is just going to fall off and it will have to be scratched.

bushing?????? holey moley

Yikes, we usually just replace the pin in the middle!
Not the whole hinge.
That sucks about the friggin door though!

That's what I'm talking about. The truck in general. The trannies on those suck.:thumbdwn::thumbdwn: But they're pretty good offroad.:D

In a diesel pickup the cummins I6 is MUCH easier to work on than the v8 PSD, not to mention it's a better engine.

In a small/medium sized SUV application it's a different story. I absolutely hate working on my friends 4.0 XJ, PITA. The ford 4.0 makes better low end torque as well. Leave it alone.
