On my '98 Mounty I have what I guess is the factory alarm. The stock FOB is what controls it, so I assume it's stock. Anyway, it sets itself after 30 seconds automatically. Even if the keys are in the ignition (in ACC mode or just inserted). Also, if it's going off and you start the truck, it'll keep going off.

Now, it doesn't make any loud noises. It's just relays clicking and what not while the corner lights flash. Assuming this is stock, anyone know how to disable it?

Try looking for an alarm box under the steering colum. You should be able to remove it, and then with a multimeter, figure out which wires to reconnect.

If it's like mine, and was added by the dealer, trace the wires and you'll find where the main harness was cut. It'll make splicing it back to stock easier.

So Aaron, you are guessing that it isn't a factory alarm? Regards,

Nope... dealer installed. It says "Ford" on it, but is wired in with e-tape and crimps.
