I am thinking of possibly installing the GT-40X ford racing heads on my 302. Would i simply bolt them on or would i need other components?

I am also wondering what heads are supposed to come with my 97 Mountaineer.
Would it be the GT-40 heads or the GT-40P heads?

And do the GT-40P heads produce more power than the GT-40 heads?
Any info on this is greatly appreciated.

I'm pretty sure it has GT-40P heads because the plugs point toward the firewall.

I want as much horsepower as i can get at 170000 miles.

It says i can bolt on 65 hp with the GT-40X heads, but is there anything else i should do along with that.

You won't get anywhere close to that much power from gt-40x heads, they are only marginally better than the 40p heads, they are lighter though (aluminum). If you want performance gains save your money and buy a nice set of trickflow heads, get a custom cam, and get a set of torque monster headers. Note if you change heads, the header company will need to know that so you get the right flange.
