Moving again; camshaft synchronizer chirping in cold: Monitoring failure?

In case this tip gets missed when researching the cam synchro
Unbolt the two 18mm nuts that hold your transmission mount to the crossmember
Put a jack under the transfer case or trans tailhousing and jack it up until the trans starts to hit the floor
Also remove the PCM wiring harness from the firewall, undo the 10mm nut and the 11mm ground wires, now you can relocate the wiring harness out of your way.
Good tip to remove the hood, sure can help

raising the back of the trans will gain you MUCH room on the back of the engine to work

@410Fortune

Good call on removing and pulling aside the the PCM/ECU Wiring harness that is directly about the cam synchro "work area"

It got me to get off the chair and out to the garage to confirm :chug:

Any extra room -even a smige - lessens the frustration level with this repair.

I also have a topside creeper
I work on big diesel trucks, the dang turbo on a 7.3 powerstroke is up under the wiper cowl...so I bought a topside creeper few years back. Anyone who works on a 4.0 cam synchro wishes they had a topside creeper :)

It is one of my favorite tools

That topside creeper is sweet. I use the poor man's version - a few old bath towels thrown over the front clip and on top of the engine, LOL!
