I found this picture of a Ranger with a mustng dash. Which makes me think it would work in a Explorer. Not that I would do this ....but it's different?

Dont be fooled. ZThe ned result on that Ranger is sweet, but it required a HUGE amount of custom wiring and fabrication to get it to work.....

Its one of those anything is possible with enough time and $$$$$ deals......

That Ranger kicks butt, if its the one I am thinking of. Complete Mustang 5.0L conversion, they chopped and lowered the top of the cab, etc etc
Complete Cobra interior!

I cant see your pic, this may be a copy cat, but the first guy to do it was a couple years ago at RPS

I have read somewhere that is not that huge of a swap. That the fit is very much the same. Just needs to have everything wired in and swaped over.

yea they seem pretty similar...but why would you want to? i was riding in my moms 03 the other day and i dont really like the interior

The biggest problem is for the 1991 - 1994 years and their A/C control that is done with levers, all the later models are electric.

Also the mustang dash will take away alot of room for your legs. The mustang seats are lower so the dash is also lower, ulike our truck seats that sit higher.

Also there is a problem with the explorer full consoles and the mustang dashing meeting up properly.

Great project and very trick if the time is taken. I was thinking of doing it, but I do not have the time to invest now.

Like I said dont be fooled.....

The wiring alone is half the project.
The door panels do not line up with the new dash, the Ex center console is different, its basically all or nothing.....

Im in the process of installing a 2002 mustang dash, console and door panels into my 93 Fox! Also have to cut and fab the door panels o fit also..... LOTS OF WORK!
At least the center console fits right in plan and doesnt have to be modded at all.

you can't tell by pic,,

but he actually kept the ranger guage cluster. So there really isn't much wireing exsept the a/c and the vents. But the doors would be a pain yeah! As far as seats, explorer sit higher but the cab is a lot taller then in a Mustang.

The cab is higher, but you will hear from everyone that has done this that the dash will hit ones shins because it is shapped different.

Just some words from people that have been there.

That looks way cool! I'm not sure if its worth the effort but it would be awesome to have a Mustang interior in the Explorer. That would just blow people away when they open your door and find what's inside.
