new vacum lines on the fpr
o2 sensor
and a brake booster vacum line and plastic peice on it

its idles ok but when i hit the gas it spits and spudders bad and cuts off
if i hold the gas to the floor it will spit spudder and make like a poping noise from the intake i have a dig.scanner it says pcm circite mal###tion so thats when i changed the o2 sensor and starts up better now but still runs ruff and shuts off i need help bad idk wat else to try i just had my son on the 13th and need to get back and fourth to work thanks every one that trys to help

Welcome to the forum! Have you tried cleaning the mass air flow sensor? You may have too lean of a Air Fuel Mixture and that would come from a dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor.

it takes some speical tool and i dont have it to take it off and its getting worse no its haveing problems staying idle

For the MAF it should just be a torax bolt with a security thingy in the center. Just break the security thing in the center and in should become a regular torax bolt. I'm not sure if its a torax on the 91-94's, but I assume it would be.
Or...
This isn't the most correct and right way of doing this, clean the maf with the airbox attached. Lift up the airbox and if you can see all the small metal wires and can get a clean shot on it, then go for it. LET IT DRY COMPLETELY, and I emphasize on completely. And do not blast the MAF, lightly spray the wires.

ok its the stock tubeing but with a boot and a k&n cone filter and when i got it the wire screen in the cast peice were the sensor is the wire mesh screen thingy is gone idk if that would hurt anything it ran fine before i hate electronic stuff i love old school cars and trucks but wat would i clean it with? and thanks for yalls help

EDIT: You said a K&N filter...those things are generally over "waxed". If it is, it gets the MAF Sensor nice and "dirty".

The mesh screen shouldn't affect anything. And as long as you can see the metal wire(s) you should be able to clean it with no problems. What to use, see quoted post below:

I've used both the CRC MAF cleaner, and the Electric Parts Cleaner (below) and I've not had issue with either. Both are non-residue cleaners.

I actually started a thread on cleaning the MAF sensor. I learned a lot from it. Click Here For Cleaning MAF thread

Any MAF cleaner or Electric cleaner from walmart autozone or whereever should work. Make sure its a no residue formula.

ok thanks i will pick some up tomarrow and let yall no the virdict and yea when i got the filter new it was way over waxed so i cleaned it like 3 times befor intalling
????? how would i go about putting a pick up to show what my exploder looks like ?

Alright sounds good. Glad to hear that you cleaned up the K&N filter, many people don't and suffer the "effects" of it. Definately let me know the verdict. I hope this will be the quick fix for you. Here's how to post a picture:

Here is a quick and simple picture and video posting thread for those members and new members that do not know how to post pictures on a forum. I know there is a Sticky with the information already, but i figured i would make it a bit oversimple by adding pictures with directions of how to do it.

Step # 2

Upload your images to the internet from your computer.

Step # 3

Step #4

Paste your image selection to the forum via right clicking and selecting "paste" or hitting CTRL+V on your keyboard.

And that is how you post pictures on a Forum. :D:D:D

Your X looks great! There are still some low mileage first gens out there. Hope you keep that explorer. You'll be able to find a lot out about your X here, and be able to get it running nice.

ok cleaned the maf sensor still doing the same thing could it have jumped timeing and if so i should be able to use the same timeing belt/chain?

Ok, I'm going to agree. Its probably the timing. Can you get some codes off of it (if any)? That might be a big help on the steps to diagnose. I was hoping the fix for you would just be the MAF, but the popping is probably from the timing being off. There was two possibilities for the popping, sometimes from a lean or too rich mixture, or timing. But like I said if you could get a code(s) that would be really helpful. Autozone does the code reading for free.

And Ford uses a chain for the most part.

lol i dont need autozone lol i got my own scanner lol but i got 2 codes
pcm cirkit mal.
02 sensor system lean bank 1 ---got new one

and the ground wire from the motor to the chassie was really loose i just tighted it waiting for the battery to charge to try to fire it up again and if that dont work ima go get the rest of my tools out of storage mostly the timeing gun

i forgot to ask i mean my scanner only pulled them codes could it be possible that my crank shaft sensor went bad but not throwing the code an if you agree ima go ahead an get one friday and if that dont work ima check the timeing with a timeing gun

You check the firing order after changing your plug wires?

May want to also check the FPR if it is leaking into a vac line it could make it over rich and help it to almost back fire in the intake.

Also an FYI a small vise grip can also work to remove the sensor from the MAF housing. I have done that even on the side of the road once. I also use MAF sensor cleaner my self.

I also know that my X sounded like heck and did what your saying when I had just cleaned and oiled my K and N filter. I am no new bee to oil filters as have been dealing with them for over 30 years now but still some how got it over oiled because I rushed and did not wrap it in paper towels over night .

I would rule the FPR and a possible over oiled K and N out first before jumping to a timing chain and gear set up. That being said I would take out the sensor and clean it once more and wrap the filter in paper towels to soak up any extra oil from it.

Also make sure you do KOEO and a KOER test as some times the codes will show under running and not under memory again just a FYI
By the way your ride looks nice. Would love to have mine looking like that.
