My 1998 explorer, ideas welcome (pictures)

You can get some nice wheels for a couple hundred if you shop around - as long as you dont go for 20's or something blingy.

Best money I ever spent on mine was exhaust and an electric fan. Get a nice Amsoil EA air filter with an adapter :D

Also, I have a Lund bug deflecter Im getting rid of if you are near FL. You can see pics of it in my link

I live just near Orlando, about 20 minutes outside of it. How much are you asking for the bug deflector?

Also, how much did you pay for that 1999 front bumper? Looks a lot nicer!

I'll let you know! If I were to buy the bumper from a parts car, would it fit on without having to modify anything?

Its just 4 nuts and the fog light harnesses. Went right on with no issues what so ever.

Thank you!

Also, I have one more question, maybe you'll know the answer but if not anybody is free to answer:

I'm looking for a Cold Air Intake on eBay, and I know I have an 4.0L OHV motor. It seems like ALL of the cold air intakes on eBay are made for a 4.0L SOHC motor -- will this not fit correctly on an OHV? If not, can somebody point me in the right direction for a cheap OHV cold air intake? The only ones I've seen for OHV were $300+

Save your money and get an adapter from Advance, cut your air box open and put a good cone filter on your original intake tube. You will be pleased with the results and it will cost about $50. There is really no restriction in the factory air tube, and other ppl that got the cai's said they didnt do much for them.

+1

Your air tube can flow gobs more air than that engine can... well, actually, so can your factory air box and filter... but I digress

If you really want to get rid of any of that stuff, make your own replacement. You can even replace the air tube with some pipe and rubber connectors, there are plenty of threads on here for home-made CAIs.

I don't trust myself to cut anything haha!

get headlights like mine (pics wil be added below), remove seat covers, maybe lower it 2 inches put a set of mustang wheels on it with wheel spacers so you can run center caps, and you need a bigger sub box for those subs, tint the tail lights as well as your front windows.

headlight assemblies sorry mine are dirty in the pic

I wouldn't wanna lower it.

But I'd definitely wanna make it look just like yours, haha! How much of a lift is that? & size of the tires/rims? Once my tax returns come in I'll have a significant amount of money to be able to afford of that.

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw your signature.

lol I forgot about my sig. i have enough room for 35's just gotta save for them. so yeah if you want to run 35's easily then go with a 3 inch body lift with the superlift 4 inch kit.

how much did the superlift 4 inch kit run you?

and is it the ranger kit fitted onto the ex, or an ex kit?

I paid $400 for the kit. i bought it from a friend with a 07 Ranger. All i need was the front portion. so he sold me the front kit, front axle, shocks, limit straps, upper lower control arms, swaybar links for $400. i believe the kit cost $2100 the kits are different but only half the kit. Explorers get the same front kit i have but it gets leaf spring packs. the Ranger gets Blocks rather then leaf spring packs.

nice x u got there

ahh i see. did you install it yourself? If so, how long did it take? I'd rather do it myself than pay someone. I don't know an awful lot about cars, but I know a good amount, I figure if I tinker around enough I'll get it done haha.

Its not too bad, but I also had a lift, and I've been in the automotive business for 10 years, 9 of them with Ford so I know my way around them. I'd say if it was done on the ground with jack stands most of the day if not 2. a lift maybe half the day as long as you prepped first read all the directions, sprayed the bolts with PB blaster or equivalent. and had the parts of the lift sitting out and sorted. It took me a total of 1 1/2 hours total in between being pulled off to do customer pay work.
