My 96 Explorer dies while accelerating.

v6 135000 wont take gas runs 50 mph but when you try to give it more gas it dies?

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the stock 95-01 section. You might have a clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump or an electrical problem. Does the electrical system still work when it dies? Does it start right up again? Does it smell like it's getting flooded? Are the battery terminals corroded?

today I replaced the fuel filter, it was restricted however it did not solve the problem.
With the filter off I turned the key on and got a very little stream of gas when the pump primed (not goodh huh).
was wondering if there is a strainer maybe restricted as the car sat for a year

There is a filter in the tank which is like a sock. Add fuel injector cleaner into the tank.

what are the odds of fuel pump failure on these cars?
and where is the best place to get one?
the parts store says they have one made in canada,and one made in usa and one made in mex or somewhere?

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge before you replace it. It's possible that it's the fuel pressure regulator, and not the actual fuel pump.

It's on the fuel rail near the Schrader valve.
