Hi,
Batman09 here.I'm a new guy.I've got a couple of problems with my 99 3.0 ranger.
1.In the morning(or if its wet outside) when I start up my truck my engine squeels like a pig.I know I need to change the serpintine belt(is this hard to do?).I think its the bearing in the belt adjuster?Does this sound right? Is that hard to change and can I get it at my local parts store?Could it be something else? The sound usually goes away once my truck warms up.

2.I hear a weird sound at low speeds in my front wheels....Like a thumping sound.I think the front whell bearings are gone. Are these hard to change out?Is there anything I should watch out for?Can someone walk me thru this?
Any help is appreciated.Thanks bm

You need to pickup a Chilton repair manual or have a buddy that could do the job for you.

To get that pig out of the engine compartment, you will need to replace the belt. While doing it, it is a good time to check the idling pully and tensioner.

The thumping sound may or may not be the wheel bearing. Although, it is always good idea to change out the wheel bearing or repacking it. I may be wrong, but I think you have sealed hub bearing and will need to replace the whole hub assembly. Again, it is possible to do the job yourself. Chilton manual will help with doing the job correctly.

You might want to check your front brake calibert for loose bolts. Mine tend to come loose and had to use locktite to help keep the bolts in place. It cold also be worn shocks, where there is no resistance on your absorber. To do that, you just push the each side of the fender and see if it bounce or raise slowly. If it is bounced up and down, the shock need to be replace (good idea to replace bothside at same time).
