My wife's 1997 ford explorer 4wd she hit a pot hole this last week and the vehicle has a shimmey to it side to side. I thought she may have knocked a tire out of balance so i got them rebalanced and aired up to proper psi (the front only) . The guy told me they are in need of replacement soon they are getting thin on the inner edges . Just curious if anyone on here might have a clue the tires helped take about 80% of the shimmey out but could the worn out tires be the other half or could it be ???? balljoints , tire rods????

Bad balljoints or tie rod ends can cause the front to shimmy. So can a vehicle that's out of alignment. Whacking a pothole can easily put your vehicle out of alignment.

BTW, did you have the tire shop make sure that the rims weren't bent?
