it likes to break a lot. but i dunno. i'm thinking this time was a result of something i did. anyway, i got in my explorer to go to work this morning. i turned the key and then let go and it backfired and shut off. i believe i let go of the ignition to early so it didn't start up properly. anyway, now it's not running...i turn the key and it sounds like it's gonna start but then it just stops and it sounds pretty crappy. anyway, when i try to start it, it sounds like it's reving up way more than it should and then it shuts off if i don't give it gas.
i have no idea. but right after i get this crap fixed i'm getting a new car.

yeah, that's probably it...my dad said something about that. hopefully it's not too hard to get to. thanks

The backfire could be caused by a bad tranny modulator. Had it happen to me a few times.

vaccum lines sound good, i've had my choke give out on my before on a real cold day, you just have to let it warm up with some gas for 5 minutes and it would be ok
