I have a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT that wont start. I have full power of all lights, AC, Radio and Horn but will not turn on. Auto Zone told me that my battery was bad, and replaced it for me with my warranty. After hooking it up I still have full power and it still DOES NOT turn on!!!! What can I do? Is it the Alternator, the starter or what. THIS SUCKS!!!

does the theft light flash?

if yes

go home get the other key, should start it.

if it does take both keys, one will work other wont, they fip back and forth and bring the truck for a pcm reprogram.

No theft light. I didnt even know It had one.

the red light dead center of dash on top is not rapid flashing?

sec need to remember where this light is at...

ok its on top center, or left side above the dash.

does that light prove out? or flashes rapidily

2nd question does the check engine light come on when the key is on.

3rd question my guess is you drove to the store, does the engine actually crank try to turn over? or just nothing?

Okay I just checked again. The red light is blinking once every two seconds. I think its always done that.

with the key in the on position. does it go out, or blink rapidly?

It stays lit solid, no blinking at all.

It stays lit solid, no blinking at all.

you need the 2nd key. like i said in the first post,

the pcm lost key programing they need to be reprogrammed. to the car, the pcm needs to reprogrammed so this does not happen again.

Check engin light is on along with all of the other lights.

It doesnt do anything at all. Yesterday it was clicking rapidly but not turning over, Today it does nothing at all.

when you swapped the battery which was a problem,. it cleared the pcm stored keys.

its something with the 04 ex's

you need the dealer to reprogram the pcm for this concern.

what will work is if you have 2 keys, it will start again

one of the 2 keys to the car will start it.

Okay thanks. Now I gotta find my second key.

HOLY CRAP IT WORKED!!! I finaly found my extra key and my explorer started right up. THANK YOU. I almost took it to the shop for a new alternator.
