I needed a jump at the mall today, so I pop the hood, get the jump and try and shut the hood. It doesn't latch and it won't go all the way down. I read the Explorer manual and it said slam it hard enough for it to shut. So I shut it harder and it jammed on the latch. One side (the passenger side) of the hood sits almost where it should when it's shut, but the drivers side sits like an inch or two above where it should be. When you look at the hood from the front. It sits about an inch above all the way around. Anyway, I pull the hood release and it doesn't do anything. I tried with all my might the hood release under the hood and I bent it but it won't unstick. Please help how to get my hood up. Thanks.

hmmm, you might need the jaws of life to open it up.

you probably bent the latch closed before the hood shut. then when you slammed it shut really hard, you really f***ed yourself. maybe take it to a mechanic...

yeah a mechanic sounds good about now! good luck.

just cut it off. its extra weight. you dont need it.

mike, i have all the parts but need $1100 to get all the work done.... the frame needs to be straightened... the old front clip needs to be cut off.. the new one welded on and then all the parts i already have need to be put on...

oh yeah, here is a better no hood pic:

ooo frame damage. that sucks. when do you think you will be able to do it?

like 2 months...

right on

why fix it???
it's "UNIQUE" ;)

jim will never have a problem like the one in this thread...

heh

also, it doesnt matter what air intake setup he has. it's always a cold air intake. no hood to trap the engine heat. and with the added benefit of weight reduction....

jims truck is full of functional (though unintentional) mods ;)
