In my 97 eddie Bauer My interior lights will not turn off when Im driving. The Door Ajar light is not on and it is not the dimmer wheel. I have noticed the drivers side passenger door will not open from the inside and somtimes it doesnt lock. COuld this be the problem? Any help on this would be Appreciated.

look on the light itself, there is a switch on it. If this switch is on it will stay on. It sounds like a Handle or latch issue on the door, I have never had the passenger side door or back doors off but I have done fairly extensive work on the drivers door.

it's not a switch. all the interior lights are on even the door lights.

if you look at the hinges on your doors, i believe you have what amounts to be rollers...play with them...they roll over a pad that has a switch in them...the rollers get pits in them and don't push on the pad as well...you also should have from the factory, a 40 minute timer that auto shuts off your lights after 40 min of key off...as for your dash light, check the bulb...as for pass door, sounds like that might be 2 different problems you need to look at...

This is a common thread here. If I'm not mistaken it is probably a stuck switch. To identify the suspect switch you need to listen for the door chime when opening each door. The door that does not chime is the culprit. That switch needs to be lubed "severly". Hope this helps!

its not your switches in the doors... its your interior lamp relay... its stuck.

Alright, thanks guys. I have alot of possible solutions. Ill give it a try.
Thanks

budwich....where would one find the interior light relay on a 95 ranger....

good question... I only have 96 ex drawings which says its in the aux relay box #4. Anyways, didn't mean to point at the relay being bad as the "only" problem... "something" might be telling it to operate also.

no no, don't worry....all is good, lol....the reason i ask is that i hear it click off under the dash somewhere and i haven't found mine yet...as for a relay in the box, i have searched that too and and no relay in the box...
