My lift gate won't lock! Help!

Hello all,

The lift gate and back window won't lock on my 98 EB with the electronic locks and key chain remote. All of the doors seem to be locking and unlocking fine. I pretty sure I could manually lock the back with the key but that would be a pain to do everytime. I'am out to warranty. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

wELCOME, SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, Do you hear anything in the gate when you try to lock it with the remote? Is there a chance you could have crimped or broken a wire in the doorjamb? This is where I would start looking..Hope it helps..Good luck

I had the same problem. It was the electronic latching gizmo. Costs about $60. and it is rivited in place. I bought the part took the trim off the tailgate and took the X to my local body shop and they put it in.
Around here body shop rates are a whole lot less than dealership rates.
