according to the message center and after the 8km road test before calculating I'm getting at 80km/h (55 mph) 9.4L/100 km = 25 mpg and in the city an average of worst case 12L/100km = 20 mpg...this is very encouraging to me...what are your mpg's?

You must have a V6...
Around town im lucky to get 13.5 mpg with my 4.6
and Orlando is flat!

actually it is the 4.6L

Would love to see the data. Not saying you are wrong, but the mileage is unusualy high for oneof these. That's good for you, though. I don't think mine would get 20 mpg while towed with the engine off! Has a lot to do with the size/weight of the vehicle, the gearing, and the engine.

I kept detailed gas mileage logs for the first few years, and nothing seemed to change the mileage much one way or the other. Finally quit keeping the logs. Average = approx. 15.3 mpg city/hwy mix. Was better on the mainland, however. All of .4 mpg better.

HI,

I´m getting around 23 hWY with the cruise control at around 100 Km/h, and an average of 13 to 15 in heavy traffic with my 4.6

I'm just going off my message center....9.4L/100km = 25mpg...hwy (cru cntrl)
11.2L/100km = 21mpg...city( easyfoot)
When I fill up the message center tells me 663km till empty...I'm just telling you what it's telling me....to keep me in a good mood I'll believe it...but I did drive the car and watched the km's till empty (almost) and it was true to form...so I'll believe it:)

Don't go by what your message center says. Fill your tank, drive till almost empty and then fill up again and divide the "Miles Driven" by "Gallons" used. You're just fooling yourself by figuring out MPG any other way ! Just my 2 cents worth.

My new to me 2002 EB Explorer with 4.0 Auto and 3.73 gears shows 19.7 today when I filled up. Hand calculation was 19.499. That is pretty close for the message center I think. The newer vehicles compared to older 90's models I had are much more accurate. I also think you should never clear the mpg on the message center. This helps it stabilize and be more accurate. I have put 1500 miles on this in the three weeks I have had it and never have cleared it other than when I filled up the first time. Then it shower 23 mpg for almost 1/2 a tank before it came down and settled close to this.

I find this very hard to believe. We have the v6 and in the city it gets 16mpg at best. And this is my grandma's truck, so she doesn't have a heavy foot. On the highway, it gets ~21mpg.

Believe it or not that is what I get. I do not baby mine so I do not think 25 would be to hard to get.

I am getting 24mpg so it is possible, I have the 4.0L 4wd with 3.55 gears so I will not complain at all. I just put on 255/70's and I might have lost 1 mpg but it's worth it for the better looking tires.
