My new (old) 2004 XLT won't start.

When I bought my 2002 they gave me one key. When asked for another, they gave me an unchipped key. It would turn in the ignition lock and the engine would crank but wouldn't start. That's been my experience, regardless of what the documentation says above. YMMV.

I have a 3rd unchipped key I keep in my wallet for anti-lockout. Now in a pinch you could use that key along with someone else's PATS key to add a second key with forscan just to get the vehicle to start. I have a old PATS key laying around from a different vehicle I might add as a 3rd key with my non-chip key.

I'm betting early 02's don't have the starter disable since the 01's don't and they like to use left over parts from the previous year...
 






Makes perfect sense!

Let us know how adding the key works out. Would be interested to see if that works.
