transmission slipping ouch NJ

Transmission started slipping today in forward and reverse gears. Does anyone know reputable shop in NJ, I am off
Parkway exit 135 to fix it. Willing to pay for a decent
job.

My trans just failed a week ago too. Its in the shop now for a rebuild and a new torque converter. Hopefully, this will last for a while. It had 120,000 miles on it with no previous problems. Kind of a bummer, and costly.

Well mine only had 75,000 but it had taken on water once and you never really get all of it out once it gets into the tranny. The trans shop I took it too said that they usually last about 120K, so I guess you shouldnt complain. Thats a normal life span. I will post what the charges
were when I get it back. George

Hey leebo, got my truck back. He wasnt very decriptive on what parts had to be replaced. Also I got a 6 month warranty or 6,000 miles, which ever comes first.

1 A4LD Overdrive (rebuilt)
1 4LDRTCC (TORQUE CONVERTER)
Flush trans cooler and lines

TOTAL PRICE: $1,886.80

You know i got RIPPED OFF. I payed 2,700 for my new Trans. I had to get everything replaced, but i did get a new housing. It was the only trans shop around, so i really had no choose. lata

Joe.....that's withen about 50 of what I paid for mine. Makes me feel better. :)

RU.......sorry. Was it a brand new trany or a rebuild. What type of warranty did it have?? Often, the greater the warranty the higher the cost. They have to pay for all the free warrantys somehow.

It was a new trans, but it only had 1 year warranty. I'm happy with it so far, and if it last longer then the one that came from the factory i'll be happy. He did improve some of the weak parts of the trans. I told me what they were, but now a can't remember. He knows alot about the explorer trany, because he does one every month or so. In fact he had one waiting to be picked up when mine got there.
