Well, I drove my Explorer to my boss's house the other day so that I could car pool to work. Upon returning to the house at the end of the day I found that the reverse gear (automatic tranny) made the vehicle move forwards, as did the 'neutral' setting! In essence, I have six forward gears, no reverse, no neutral, and park. I can't even take the vehicle home as it is facing the boss's house and is stuck in either park or drive (essentially). Due to neutral being a de facto 'drive' gear I can't even push or tow it out of the driveway.

So...what do I do?

Put the transfer case in nuteral and tow it home/to a repair shop. If it's an electric transfer case, remove the rear drive shaft. It sounds like your forward clutch pack is stuck on. That either means the clutch pack is at fault or you have a valve body issue. Sorry, that's all I can do to help you out.

A friend and I had to disconnect the rear drive shaft and tow it home. Luckily I live not too far away from where the truck died.

Now all you got to do is get under it and get it fixed. :)
