sup guys, im new here my friend showed me your site and i was estatic that there are people out there that care about explorers that arent soccer moms!! however i cant find $hit for my 97'

here is what ive done so far:

its a 97 xlt with a 4.0 SOHC :( :( (no parts)
ive added a K&N intake and custom exhaust
thats about it as far as performance goes cuz i cant find $hit for it, and my dad owns a customization shop.... go figure.

on the outside ive added the step bars which were such a pain in the arse to install it wasnt even funny :D wound up welding the drivers side on. i got 16" (soon to be 20") Fitopaldi rims and limo tint all around. plus my billet grille, which needs adjusting, im just too lazy to take the front end back off ;) these are old pics i just installed my clear corner lenses yesterday and couldnt get a pic due to the fact it was dark outside. :(

the interior, aside from some minor spraypainting and my stereo is, stock. which is about to change, im removing the back 60/40 and replacing it with 2 matching front buckets and custom building a center console which will house 4 6&1\2" speakers and a tv for the rear passengers, then in the back where my subs are now, i will be turning that into an entire custom box, housing 4 JL audio w6's and 2 amps.

ill post pics in this thread throughout the work and the end result. anyhoo, thats my ford, which i lovingly calle "The Ford" :D :D ill be looking forward to posting here more!

Looks good.

I'm not a big fan of the taillights but overall the truck looks very clean.

thanks, im thinking of trading it for a newer model 1998 or 99 with a 5.0 more parts are made for those :o

nice ride

yep you can mod them out pretty good. Be sure if you do decide to sell it to take all the custom stuff off. Beleive me it will sell alot better if you market it as a grocery getter.

Looks great except for the ricer tip! :o

Where did you find those lights? I think they look great!

lol, true, when i was doing the exhaust with my dad, we were debating what to put on it, so i figured what the hell? and we tried it, it sounds better than it looks trust me, at an idle it sounds quite throaty, and at high rpm ;) it sounds like a 5.0 (i had a 92 F150 with a 5-0 in it, it had catbacks, i wish it were louder but the 302 is a quiet engine :o )

most everything on that truck was free, aside from the stereo, which i bought. im getting some 20s" soon :D maybe KMC, but i may get some blems (half the time you cant even see it cuz its on the backside of the rim) for half the cost. mhuahuahuahahuahuauahu#@$$!$% although they wouldnt be good when i get the urge to drive around in the construction area near my house after it rains. right now the bottom half of The Ford is red from Georgia Clay :D :D :o

mainly performace parts, a cowl or ram air hood, some type of body kit, im thinking maybe the xenon fender flares (w/o those ugly ass steps) and a bumper cover.

the performance parts i want to shut up this hobag at my school that drives a red S-10. me and him kinda hate each other cuz i take his parking spot with The Ford nearly everyday. mahuuahha. but i raced him once and he kicked mine's ass. all i've found performance wise, is a cold air intake (which was for an OHV, i had to bend some stuff to make it work)

as for the outside, im not really sure what i want, from a distance ;) it looks sexeh as hell right now, but it's been that way for a long time and i wanna change it up.

however i dunno how much longer im going to have it, i really want a 5.0 so i can kick that S-10's 4.3 ass. the SOHC may have toruque but a supercharged 5-0 would be best :D im also planning on painting it with a chameleon paint, it looks like a normal grey, but from different angles you cant tell wether its green or blue or grey or all of the above. its called Juneau Grey, my dad used to be HUGE into 57' Oldsmobiles and he had an award winning 57 (now in a museum somewhere) painted that color, i dunno how many times he wont 1st with that thing beating the Chevy's everytime :D

anyhoo, enuff ranting for now ;) :D
and thanks for the complements

Good luck with the 20s, I can't wait to see it! :D
Can I have free stuff too? :p

ChuckyD- Are you posting a lot instead of studying for finals like me or are you done? :D

thx ChuckyD, however isnt most of the 4.0 stuff there made for the OHV? a lot of the descriptions dont specify.

and

the 20s" probably wont be free, he may own the shop, but he wont gimme that much, lol. as for free stuff, i cant promise u that, but if u live in Georgia stop in and get the best price in the southeast on truck supplies <./end shamelss plug :D >

Call em up and ask.. i did a truck search with your discriptions in it, it should be right. notice I didnt list a Throttle Body, that said "not for SOHC"

Yea, there is a bit of performance available for your truck, also try explorerexpress.com
