Alright I was going to order the new heads from NAPA since I can get them for $400 new.

It's a 94' explorer, but they have two options. I've only heard of the kidney shaped for it, is the 'heart shaped' equivilent of the 95tm? I can't find any info on the 6090AD Casting. Anyone have some insight? Should I even go with these from NAPA?

Option 1:
Line code MTR
Part number F091N
Description Cylinder Head Assy - New
Attribute Details in store
Comment w/ Combustion Chamber (Heart Shaped) w/ Casting # 6090AD

Option 2:
Line code MTR
Part number FOB64N
Description Cylinder Head Assy - New
Attribute Details in store
Comment w/ Kidney Shaped Holes in the Pre-combustion Chambers w/ Casting # 90TM

You can lookup these at: http://www.napacanada.com/en/PartsAccessories/PartsSearch/SearchByPartNumber.aspx

Here is a pic of the 2 styles..

95tm on the left.. 90tm/93tm on the right.

Not sure which is the "heart shaped"

edit: I found the pics by typing 95tm and explorer into google images..

EDIT AGAIN:.. After squinting and poking myself in the eye I can tell teh 95tm casing is what they are calling heart shaped.
Option #2 is what you need for a 1990-1994 X..

Thanks for the reply. Next question... I've read a bit about putting the 95TM on the 1st gen with higher compression (and higher octane fuel req'd).

First question is are these napa heads suitable for doing this (The 6090ad)?

Second question what is the real outcome of doing this? What kind of gains are there? What are the disadvantages of doing this?
