Narrowing a 8.8

Well I may do that on the brackets I already have. I just need to find a first gen ranger with 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Do the first gen rangers have the port for the ABS sensor? what about 2nd gen rangers rears? Also I need to know I was told up to 89 and then another says 92. Guess I will just need to measure for sure.. But I would like to have some years that I can start looking at for a starting point. I am not sure 3" will be enough, may have to go 4. But I believe a 3 will work. Thanks for all your info.

I am asking around about the measurements, not that I think your wrong or anything, just want to make sure what I should be looking for or if anyone has one they may want to swap. Thanks again, Jason

The ranger seconed gen has the same front as the first gen explorer. 89-92. You need to find one from a 4.0L truck 2wd or 4wd. I've seen a few 2.9L rangers with 8.8's from factory but that is pretty rare for that year. Otherwise you will end up with a 7.5". And that's not what you want.

4.10 is going to be impossible unless it's been swapped. None of them had it. The 7.5" however did. 3.55 and 3.73 are the most common ratios.

I have the brackets here and they are ready to bolt on. I just want $50 + shipping for them. Since I have the full explorer axle with discs I offloaded my ranger 8.8 with the drums back on it. So I have these that are just collecting dust.

Where about are you located? I can give you a hand by letting people know what your looking for. Someone local to you may have one your looking for.

Well I will let you know about the the brackets. If I cant find the rear I am looking for the brackets will be of no use. Basicly I need a 89-92 ranger 8.8 with 3.73 gears. Thanks for the info!
