Does anyone know if there is a way to completely turn off the navigation audio?
I've been able to turn off the voice guidance, so it plays the tones only (ding... dong... beep...), and I've been able to turn the volume of the tones down to their minimum level, but they will not turn off completely.
As a result, while listening to music, or on a phone call, every time the nav prompts you to make a turn (which seems to be a minimum of 2-3 times for every turn... the Sync3 nav functionality is great, but it nags worse than an overbearing mother-in-law), the system automatically lowers the volume of the music/phone call so it can play it's tones loud (or soft, if you've turned their volume down) and clear.
I'm hoping there is a way to disable this, and I can just have factory nav guidance on screen, and zero audio interruption... much like when I hit the "mute" button when using google maps turn-by-tun on the iPhone.
Having your favorite song, or important phone call fade out, then back in, 3 different times over the course of a minute and a half, just because you're about to change freeways, is excessive. It's only been a week and I'm ready to go back to using my iPhone for nav because of this.
Cheers,
Mike
