So the compressor locked up and spewed oil everywhere. I have the new compressor but have a few questions:
1. The instructions refer to measuring the amount of oil in the old compressor and removing a determined amount of oil from the new compressor. It also says to add 2 ounces if replacing the accumulator/dryer, which I am. Long story short, I cannot accurately measure the oil out of the old one as it is long gone. Am I good to run with the 7 ounces loaded in the compressor? Should I try and blow any residual oil out of the lines and condenser?
2. The 2 lines that go into the compressor are welded to a plate that bolts to the compressor. Below one of the line to the rear is what looks like a large nipple. It is hexed at the end, which looks like you can put a wrench on it, and it has a hole in the end that looks to have black plastic inside? What is this and does it need to be replaced for any reason? I have a picture but don't have it hosted anywhere.
Thanks for the help!

1 I can tell you what the system are:

oil
Capacity Without Auxiliary Climate Control 266 ml (9 oz)
Capacity With Auxiliary Climate Control 384 ml (13 oz)

Refrigerant
Capacity Without Auxiliary Climate Control 0.96 kg (34 oz)
Capacity With Auxiliary Climate Control 1.59 kg (56 oz)

2 remove the bolt that holds the 2 lines (discharge the system first) the hex nut is the high side pressure port you don't need to touch it.

Tower,
I do have rear air. Can I blow the residual oil out of the system with my air compressor and just add 6 ounces to make the 13 ounces required? Just curious, but what is that high pressure port for? I know there is a high and low side port on the on the hot line and dryer. Thanks!

Extral oil will not hurt it will get trapped in the drier. I recomend changing the Expansion Valve/Orifice Tube. When the compressor goes it can clog this tube. It has a filter screen in it. Usually I do not change the dryer but you will need to vac the system down before adding the oil and 134a. I guess this is a common issue. I just blew my compressor in my 05. The final bill at Ford was $1200 but thank God for extended warrenty.

I had to get the orifice tube and dryer to get the 1 year warranty on the compressor. In all it was under $450, including R-134a. Exactly where is the orifice tube? Thanks.

It should be just before the evaporator core but you might have a different setup or 2 of them because of the rear air. I have a 05 manual but it does not have the location to pinpoint.

Thanks crash594. Does anyone know if there is a second orifice tube because of the rear air?
