my battery is done and i am looking into getting a new one. i have 2 subs and plan on putting in a winch and some extra driving lights within the next 6 months. what type of battery would be best? also an estimate of the cost would be helpful too. thanks for the help

Tons of threads on aftermarket battery choices on the site. Try putting one of both of the site's search engines to good use and you'll find enough reading to keep you busy for hours.

I use Optima batteries (both red and yellow, but only one at a time). They're decent batteries but spendy and quality control can be an issue (I had one red top die on me). Also consider alternator upgrades and look into "Big Three" wiring upgrades. Once again there are a zillion threads on these topics too. Remember, this site has been in existence for a long time and gets a lot of hits. That's a whole lot of archival posting to draw upon. :)

Off tangent:

I ran a very small battery on my Explorer for a year or so, even did a few pulls with the winch. I think it was for a Civic which I tihnk is rated at 400 CCA. So small batteries are fine as long as you're not drawing on it too much while the engine is off.

My old battery in my 92 was a Motorcraft or something, dated back to like April 2003 I think, and it wouldda lasted longer, if I hadnt left my fogs on like 4 times at school causing it to die haha

im pretty sure it was replaced. it was an energizer battery. it was old like maybe 4 years or so. i left the radio on too long and lights on and what not a few times...whoops. it was completely dead and i was having to jump start my car just to go anywhere so i picked up an optima red top.

I've had good luck with AZ battries usually use AZ gold 65DLG part number 1000cca,850ca 120min reserve!
